Tom and Gerry are short haired tabbies

Gerry Morgan RIP 1 September 2011 to 11 February 2017

Gerry was hit by a car. He was 5 years old. He has been buried beside his beloved brother, with whom he is reunited in a better place. Gerry had eczema which required a special diet but he rarely complained about it, even though he did occasionally lick through the skin to make it bleed.

He was the most equitable cat we have known, moving from bedroom to bedroom every 3 or 4 nights so everyone had a turn. He loved to trot everywhere and rarely walked. A sprint from the end of the street to his family as they arrived home was a joy to watch. He enjoyed hunting and made good use of his catflap to let us join in with the joys of his catches. At other times he would use the doors and demand that we open them, even though his catflap was available.

Gerry has the most wonderful smile of any cat we have known, and even his eyes joined in making him look so happy. He was never one to spend every evening on a lap, but when laps were in, they were in big time and he would be there for as long as he could.

Gerry often waited at the drive at school finishing time and enjoyed the attention of passing pupils. He's a very good looking cat and made full use of his personality too!

He was always very gentle with the people who were a bit rougher than his usual treatment and a Gerry bite was a very rare incident indeed. He was happy to hang out with some of the other neighbouring cats though he was not at all keen on letting dogs use his pavement.

A favourite game was to trot the length of the dining room and lounge, his eyes fixed firmly on ours and then stop the split second before a lap jump to have a bath. This bath could be several minutes long and if we daredto pick up our book / pad etc then the bath finished and he looked at us again until we were ready to receive him. The bath would then re-start!

Gerry is a great cat, following in the tradition and high standards of other Morgan moggies. He is greatly missed and leaves us quite devasted. However we believe he and Tom are having fun in heaven and we will meet again.

Tom Morgan RIP 1 September 2011 to 7 October 2013

Tom was hit by a car, which did not stop, and was found dead on the road. He was just 2 years and 1 month old. He has been given a burial with his whole family in attendance.

Tom was bigger than his brother, with long legs, and black pads in contrast to Gerry's pink pads. When he saw family, his tail would shot up and he liked to carry it in the style of a question mark. Tom had just the most gorgeous tummy, and showing it off was something he loved to do. His markings, similar to Gerry's, were striking and indeed we thought that his face was in the style of a tiger. He certainly was a good fighter - especially when taking on another cat that was after Gerry.

The bond between them was clear and obvious - they loved each other and looked out for the other one. They did not spend all day in each other's company, but evenings and night-time were usually spent cuddling each other. Washing each other was a common sight and whilst it could end in a fight, it could just as easily end in a cuddle and sleep together.

Their play fights were very entertaining for us to watch as they chased each other, in turns, round the house, paws sliding for grip, just like cartoon cats on ice. They loved to stalk each other, often this ended in a kiss rather than a fight. Indeed, Tom took it a stage further and started to stalk his humans for fun too. Human stalking would usually end with one of his "Tom rubs" - where he put his whole self into the effort and just about knock you over!

Tom enjoyed going to school. At lunchtime he would often head over the road and try to get into the building with his human siblings. Indeed he came to church once as well, though he was distracted by something tasty in the graveyard as we went into the Kirk.

Tom had a lovely sense of fun. His bedtime game was to beat Jayne to bed and claim her pillow or somewhere on her side to make life uncomfy! When Jayne was about to shift him, then he turned up the cuteness a few notches, a very effective ploy! He often like to sleep on his back, which is very unusual, leaving his tummy and chin exposed for others to stroke as he slept.

His final night in the house was spent between us, giving Richard a long cuddle - 7 hours or so, with his amazingly deep purr breaking the silence as he was stroked. If the boys were on the bed, then Tom liked to find a human leg to lie against whilst Gerry prefers being at the bottom of the bed. In the mornings, Tom had taken to asking out by pawing at the glass in the door - not loud enough to wake people but if they are awake it was loud enought to let them know.

One of the many delights of the boys was that you would be stroking one and saying something along the lines of just how wonderful they were, when the other one would appear. Praise for one would often end with "And then there were two!"

Tom Morgan is a most wonderful cat. He brought a lot of happiness to his family and obviously cared and loved us as much as we did him. He leaves a horrible gap in our lives and will be missed by us all, not least Gerry, who kissed him as we were about to bury him.

Tom is with the other great Morgan cats, Amber and Meg, awaiting us all in heaven.

=========================================================================================================

Day 1

They were very quiet in the car home.

As soon as they were out of the boxes, they looked for hiding places!

In the evening they came out to play tig and hid'nseek with each other. It was a long night of fun before finally tiring just before we got up.

Day 2

A long lie was needed! They eventually surfaced just before lunchtime.

After lunch they cuddled up in Isla's bed, hiding under her duvet.

By the evening Gerry was keen on catching that bit of string and Tom was coming out of his shell

Day 3

Gerry opened the wardrobe, somewhat noisily, during the night to find a nice bed for the night They had been playing tig during the night and both decided to skip breakfast for a longer lie.

....................

Gerry is now up and about with us during the day, at least until the noisy hordes descend at lunchtime

Tom likes to sleep/hide all day. He is currently in the wardrobe.

The boys are very active at night time, when the kids are safely tucked up in bed. They love stalking each other and playing chasing games too.

It is Jayne's (note the spelling Auntie Emily!) birthday today and Gerry has been in great form, with plenty of attention being given to her.

...............................

The boys come out to play once the kids are in bed! But fortunately the grown-ups can enjoy the boys fun too. They especially like the run through the kitchen, dining room and lounge to the hall and round again. It is not to be done quietly though.

They like to get up to some more chase games around 5.30 in the morning and even though the hall is carpeted, it does sound like a small herd of elephants are about to burst into the room.

Gerry joined us all for lunch today, Tom was up too, but he decided the bedroom was the limit of his socialness.

-------------------------------------------

First trip to the vet went well. It was for a booster jab.

Tom is much less timid now and comes out to play during the day. Neither are allowed out yet but Gerry is certainly curious and looking for the chance sometime when the door is opened.

Last night, Tom was walking along, minding his own business when suddenly there was a noise right beside him, from the other side of the curtain. he was spooked and jumped but when he spotted a brotherly tail, he waited and slapped Gerry as he came out. They then had a 10 minute fight through the curtains which was thoroughly entertaining and ended with them both giving the other a rub and kiss.

------------------------------------------------

After the kids went to school, we let them out into the back garden. They had a great time exploring and whilst Gerry was braver, Tom went his own way too. Every so often they would come back to find the other one before heading off again. All went fine, no other animals to cause upset so we will go for it again, if the weather is so good tomorrow!

-------------------------------------------------

The boys have settled in really well. They tend to do their own things for a while but like to get back together every few hours. Night time is usually spent sharing a chair together, where they look ever so cute. Tom is now clearly bigger and more well built than Gerry, though there is not an ounce of extra fat on either of them. Gerry has been the first to reduce the numbers of birds though Tom tries to catch them too. His first kill can only be days away.

--------------------------------------------------

Major breakthrough!! The boys have discovered laps! Gerry loves a cuddle on a lap and Tom will too very occasionally
